Call or email using the information on the Contact Info page. We will schedule and complete a New Client consultation at least 48 hours before you will need service. At the time of the consultation you may schedule the services. The consultation visit generally does not need to be repeated and future services may be arranged by phone call.
Rates are set to cover licensing, pet insurance, car and travel expenses, time spent, and materials needed to ensure your pet sitting experience is what you deserve upon entrusting your pet and home to Homestead Pets. Your personal costs will be decided according to the services you choose. Homestead Pets will be happy to help you put together a plan best suited to your home and pet family.
Please be aware: Bonding usually requires that a person be convicted of a crime before the bonding company will make a payment. Homestead Pets is insured through Pet Sitters Associates LLC with a policy that includes the add-on: Special Personal Property Policy. Coverage is provided for accidental breakage, mysterious disappearance and theft. This extra coverage provides broader coverage than a bond. UPDATE: Homestead Pets is a member of Pet Sitters Associates, LLC with a policy that includes the add-on: Special Personal Property Policy which now also includes a Pet Care Surety Bond. This bond does not require a criminal conviction as other types of bonds do, but does require that it be a criminal act.
Homestead Pets rates are based on the time spent rather than the number of pets. The amount of time needed will be assessed as accurately as possible during the initial consultation. If more time is needed than originally figured, you will be invoiced additional charges per Homestead Pets discretion.
Every home, every client, and every pet is considered as an individual and services will be tailored to those qualities. Homestead Pets will take an interest in learning about your unique pet and help you plan a package that will best meet your needs.
The more pets you have the less expensive hiring a pet sitter is.
If you have an outdoors cat please consider keeping him/her indoors for the duration of your time away. Homestead Pets cannot be responsible for a cat who has access to the outdoors.
As a customer of Homestead Pets you will sign a veterinary release form which will give us authorization to have your pet treated at your chosen veterinary clinic. In the event that your pet needs to be taken for medical care, you will be called first, unless it is an emergency situation. If your designated veterinarian is unavailable, your pet will be taken to another nearby Dr. who is reputable and able to see your pet when it is most important.
Prevention of a lost pet while under Homestead Pets care is a matter of top priority. To ensure against this type of catastrophe, every precaution to ensure your pet's safety will be taken before service ever begins. Your pets will be provided with an additional I.D. tag with Homestead Pets name and number on it, so we may be reached in your absence. In case of a lost pet you would be notified, animal shelters would be called and an active search would commence as if the pet were ours.
Yes, with a signed and confirmed service request form and full payment in advance.
Homestead Pets understands that sometimes schedules change suddenly, therefore cancellations due to circumstances beyond your control may be credited for a future service. However, please note: Homestead Pets reserves the right to refuse credit for cancellations of Holiday and Vacation pet sits, as these are services in which last minute vacancies in the schedule may result in significant loss of business. If you need to cancel, please call 301-1293 as far in advance as possible to notify Homestead Pets not to travel to your home. If Homestead Pets arrives at your home for service, you will be charged.
Phone calls will be returned at the first available chance after receiving the message. It is possible that the day is particularly busy (voice and e-mails are not checked while on the job) or perhaps the message has not yet arrived to the voice mail box. You may also e-mail or try calling again if possible to ensure your message is received. Your calls are very important!
Homestead Pets will take your dog to the park to walk, but does not attend Dog Parks.
Yes! It is essential that Homestead Pets meets your new cat or dog before service begins, and it is also better for your pet to have met us before a pet sit or dog walk. Call or e-mail in advance of needing services just as if you were a New Client. Homestead Pets will come by to meet your new family member and collect the new info on him/her.
A pet that is very territorial can be a big concern. Another concern would be a pet who may be sick or have health problems. Sometimes it will be better for a pet to be boarded or placed with a veterinarian. We will be happy to direct you to a reputable kennel if needed.
No. Waste pick-up will be limited to service times.
