The science behind the tilt.

Brachycephalic breeds — French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Boxers — share a structural feature called Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome, or BOAS. Their shortened airways make eating from a flat bowl harder than it looks.

A 2024 study of 2,141 brachycephalic dogs found they were 3.77 times more likely to be diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia than non-brachycephalic dogs. Among BOAS-affected dogs, regurgitation occurs in 49 to 85 percent of cases.

We didn't invent the science.
We built the bowl that respects it.

Side profile showing the feeder's elevated tilt

Flat bowls weren't built for flat faces.

A flat bowl forces a brachycephalic dog to hunch. They gulp air with every bite. They regurgitate within twenty minutes. You spend a lot of time cleaning the floor.

A 15° tilt keeps the head level. The food slides toward them. They eat slower. The kitchen stays clean.

We tried four other bowls before we built this one.

Bao, our French Bulldog, threw up after almost every meal. Not dramatic — just a wet hrk and half his dinner back on the floor. We tried slow-feeders, elevated stands, smaller portions. Nothing worked.

A third vet finally explained it. Brachycephalic breeds have shortened airways. Eating from a flat bowl forces them to hunch and gulp air. The fix isn't behavioral. It's geometric.

We couldn't find one we'd actually want on our kitchen floor. So we made No. 01.

Everything before you add to cart.

What breeds is this for?

French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Boxers, and other small flat-faced breeds. Portion size matters as much as weight, so check bowl capacity if your dog eats larger meals.

How does the 15° tilt actually help?

Flat-faced dogs have shortened airways. The tilt keeps their head level so breathing is easier and eating pace is calmer.

How much food fits comfortably?

Each bowl holds 380 ml, about 1.5 cups to the rim. For less mess, we recommend filling closer to 1 cup of dry food so the tilted bowl has room to work.

What are the bowls made of?

Food-safe ceramic. Lead and cadmium-free. Dishwasher-safe.

Is the wood treated?

Yes — finished with a food-safe matte sealant. Wipe with a damp cloth as needed. Do not submerge it.

My dog is 25–30 lbs. Will this fit?

Weight is only part of fit. Some 25 lb Frenchies eat comfortably from No. 01; others need more bowl volume. If your dog eats more than about 1 cup per meal, bulky fresh food, or heavy toppers, this size may feel small. We're working on a larger version.

How do returns work?

60-night Rest-Easy Guarantee. If your dog isn't eating calmer within 60 days, return it for a full refund. Read the returns page.
